Guangzhou, China
HSArchitects (2012-2013)

The site is located in the area surrounded by numerous hills and rivers. This strong character was a starting point of the concept. The graphic topology was projected on site inspired by the surrounding landscape. The idea was to recreate hill-like buildings,  carved into initial landscape. The balance is achieved between preexisting conditions and future development. The built forms co-exist with its natural surrounding, synced into undivided, yet mutually respectful unity.

Foshan, China
HSArchitects (2013)

Located in a Longjiang City Centre, this site is planned to be an important retail area of the district. In accordance with the client’s Feng Shui awareness, the concept was founded on the grounds of Wu Xing, (Five Elements). The mall consists of four individual building segments, each representing an element (wood, earth, metal, water) and central square (fire). Symbolically, central square is the heart of the development. Besides independent function, each segment has different interior design and exterior lighting, according to its type.

Project |04
Meihua Center (2nd prize)
Foshan, China
HSArchitects (2012)

Foshan is the birth place of Kung FU. The concept was to create a building that represents Foshan and its history and character, in a modern interpretation through its shape and appearance. The idea was based on the martial arts symbol (Yin Yan), which is represented by two elements joining together and forming perfect balance and stability. The volume of the tower is therefore divided in two interlocking elements strongly expressed in both volume and façade.

Project |05
Bo Ao Airport
Hainan, China
HSArchitects (2012)

Airports are gates to the cities. The first encounter with the city one experiences is on its airport. Having that in mind, the initial question was: what is Hainan? The strongest impression came from its nature. Hainan tropical environment is characterized by the beautiful blue water of the sea, green tropical trees, breeze. The concept aims to link the design to its surrounding. The main element of the design is the striking shape of the roof that takes inspiration from the tropical trees and its leafs. Palm-tree-on-the-wind shaped roof, tree-like columns, timber materials, water pools, all this is carefully established to embrace and welcome nature into development, rather than to invade it.

Project |06
Zhoutouzui Hotel
Guangzhou, China
HSArchitects (2011-2013)

Located on the Pearl River in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, this hotel has an important role to reflect the beauty of the city, and to be its landmark. Closeness to the river defined the idea of the building: to manifest fluid movement, liquidity and transparency. The shape itself is organic, and naturally shaped, consisting of slabs that are gradually narrowing: rice terraces-like. The atrium has been set to be “The Water” of the building, unconstrained in form, giving the impression of a flow into slabs, sparkling under the sun rays, yet being transparent. “The Water” connects “Rice Terraces”, making the shape balanced and graceful, being a true landmark on Pearl River.

Project |07
Foshan New Town Financial Center
Foshan, China
HSArchitects (2012)

Located in the central business district in Foshan, this office tower is planned to be important financial centre of the area. In China, there is a predefined design approach of financial buildings. The goal is to create through form and design a sense of stability and balance, which would symbolically connect to the world of finances. In this case, idea was somewhat different. The building, in its form and shape, represents the financial world as it really is: flexible, dynamic, witty, creative, heterogenic, but above all, in a constant and gradual growth and re-shape, striving upward.

Project |08
Juda Workers' Dormitory (under construction)
Pazhou, China
HSArchitects (2012-2013)

The project has been made for factory workers, and it includes workers’ dormitory. The plot itself is very small, so the space needed to be optimized as much as possible. That particular lack of space created a concept in which the focus was on playfulness and joy. The idea was to search for a solution (in form, materials, function), in which comfort can be achieved, regardless of tight space. The buildings have been organized as a set of boxes, joyfully shifted from its axes in different directions. In that way, the dynamic form has been created. This shape, together with the surroundings, form pleasant, comfortable and safe ambient for its hard working inhabitants.

Project |09
Xiangtan Residential Development
Xiangtan, China
HSArchitects (2011)

Located in Xiangtan, Hunan province, this project became a unique research platform. Taking into account client’s requirements to maximize used area and at the same time to allow future inhabitants living comfort, this project required creative approach and re-thinking. Due to a lack of space to completely fulfill inhabitants outdoor needs, the landscape design, besides ground plane, also embraced the vertical axes in its development. In that way, landscape started to develop in all 3 dimensions, creating a concept in which all the requirements are fulfilled and balanced, where, at the same time, typical residential tower is transformed into dynamic, interesting creation.

Project |10
Project Belgrade: tranzicion:ism
X Venice Biennale in Architecture
Project Belgrade (2006)

Belgrade.
The dominant merit is in its discontinuity. Formed in a border of different cultures, influences, erasing its matrix and then again revival for centuries. That is the nature of great-potential cities: to transform the structural bias into the multiple reflections so that they look open to each input. Focus is on the practically unused and intact resource of rivers and central island and on evolution in a matter of circulation and reorganization of city matrix; connections over the rivers and redevelopment of new areas. Overlapping in one future centre to exceed temporary eccentric and de-arranged city core.

Project |11
Budva Summer Residence
Montenegro
ATI Project (2011)

Located in the remarkable natural ambient (surrounded with both sea and mountains), Budva Summer Residence is designed as a unique asylum from the city life, allowing true comfort to its inhabitants. Disposition and orientation of the building is stipulated by the position of the panoramic-sea-view axis. By carefully incorporating large glass surfaces, terraces and balconies, this building has been designed to “open up” towards the sea. Building envelope has been developed out of several elements (balcony, terrace, loggia, window-door). These elements, places in a certain order, are producing natural sun-shading and also creating a unique dynamic impression on the facades

Project |12
Zmaja od Nocaja (built)
Belgrade, Serbia

Project |13
Open Market Stall Design
Design Competition // Product Design
Lidija filipovska & Ivan Simic (2010)

This concept, besides the basic idea of mobility, has joined the other features that are key to the design of modern retail counter: flexibility and modularity. The basic unit of the counter consists of a main corpus and two lateral modules. The side modules are connected to the link that enables them to rotate on a vertical axis, which is the main mechanism of flexibility. There are four possible individual combinations. Following these variations, it is possible to create a diverse group of stands, combining several basic positions. Thus, each vendor in the market has the ability to directly affect working environment. Classical linear motion is "broken". At the same time, market becomes "alive" spatial configuration. The buyer gets the chance to experience a different kind of market - interesting, dynamic and more open.
